Levelling Up School Funding

I delivered on my promise to secure more funding for schools in Redditch and the Villages.

Levelling Up School Funding

As a proud product of the state school system myself, I know that a first-class education is essential to unlocking a young person's full potential.

During my time as your MP, I worked hard to end the historical underfunding of schools in Worcestershire. We are now seeing more money going into our schools with the total core schools budget set to reach its highest ever level in 2024 thanks to the previous Conservative Government.

The budget, which includes funding for both mainstream schools and high needs, will total over £59.6 billion in 2024-25, an over £1.8 billion increase from this year, and that’s on top of the more than £3.9 billion rise in 2023-24.

The minimum per pupil funding levels will increase by 2.4% compared to 2023-24. Next year, every primary school will receive at least £4,655 per pupil, and £6,050 per pupil for secondary schools.

This means the total funding for all schools in Redditch and the Villages will increase to £66,675,900 next year.

School standards are important too, and I'm pleased to see that 68% of first schools in Redditch and the Villages are rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted. 83% of our middle schools and 80% of our high schools are also rated as Good or Outstanding.

On this section of my website you can catch up with the work I did to level up school funding in our constituency.
