Rachel has welcomed a further allocation of Government funded medical school places at the Three Counties Medical School.
Today (May 13th) the Government has confirmed it will fund 350 additional medical school places in England for the academic year 2025/26, this includes an additional 12 places at the Three Counties Medical School in Worcester.
The announcement is the next stage in delivering the £2.4 billion NHS Long Term Workforce Plan commitment to double medical school places by 2031.
The further medical school places builds on last October’s announcement when the Government confirmed the next generation of NHS doctors would be trained at the Three Counties Medical School from this September.
Rachel said: “With more doctors and nurses working for our Acute Trust than when I was first elected, and with a further expansion of Government funded medical school places at the Three Counties Medical School, local health bosses are running out of excuses not to return a maternity and children’s service to the Alex.
“Without a doubt we’re heading in the right direction when it comes to the strong case we’re building to return these services, and I will continue the fight to get local health bosses to commit to providing a maternity and children’s service at our town’s hospital.”
