Priorities 2024

Rachel has set out her priorities for 2024 as she continues to deliver results for local residents.

Building on the success of last year after delivering on all of her priorities in 2023, Rachel has set out seven further priorities for 2024 that she intends to deliver on.

Her seven priorities for the year ahead are:

  • Fight to return a maternity and children’s service to the Alex and secure more investment in our hospital
  • Support constituents with the cost of living and back measures to boost the economy
  • Back measures to tackle illegal migration and to stop the boats
  • Keep our streets and roads safe
  • Back a pragmatic approach to achieving Net Zero
  • Unlock the full potential of Redditch and the Villages
  • Stand up for common sense and British values

And Rachel is making progress in delivering on the priorities she has set out. This includes:

Fight to return a maternity and children’s service to the Alex and secure more investment in our hospital

Rachel has met with the new Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to once again make the case for the return of a maternity and children’s service to the Alex.

Support constituents with the cost of living and back measures to boost the economy

Rachel backed the Government’s Budget which cut taxes for 29 million working people by an average of £900 a year, uprated the state pension by £900 a year, supported those on low incomes by increasing the National Living Wage to £11.44 an hour and extended the Household Support Fund by a further six months.

Back measures to tackle illegal migration and to stop the boats

Rachel continued to support the Illegal Migration Act in Parliament and held a debate on the deportation of foreign national offenders.

Keep our streets and roads safe

Redditch will be getting a dedicated town centre policing team following Rachel’s extensive crime survey and consistent lobbying.

Unlock the full potential of Redditch and the Villages

To unlock Redditch’s full potential, £5 million in Government funding has been secured to level up arts and culture in the town.

Stand up for common sense and British values

To support swimming facilities at the Abbey Stadium, a further £205,000 investment has been secured.

Rachel said: "At the beginning of the year I set out seven priorities which I intend to deliver on in 2024.

"Now we’re already a quarter of the way through the year, I’m pleased to say I’m making progress on a number of my priorities, but there’s still much more to do.

“I will continue to focus on people over politics this year, just as I have done ever since I was first elected.”
