A campaign to encourage residents to continue supporting local businesses online and to help Redditch’s economy bounce back as it re-opens has been launched by the town’s MP Rachel Maclean.
With many businesses legally required to close during this lockdown, many have moved online or have launched click and collect and delivery services.
The #SupportLocal campaign launched today (March 1st) will see Rachel promote local businesses on her website and on social with the aim of encouraging residents to continue support them during this difficult time.
Rachel will also be promoting the work of local charities and organisations which have not stopped supporting local residents throughout this pandemic.
And, as the economy begins to re-open in April following the publication of the Government’s roadmap out of the lockdown, Rachel’s campaign will encourage residents to back local shops, pubs, and restaurants as they begin to re-open.
Following the launch of her campaign, Rachel said:
“We all know what a difficult time this has been for businesses which have been required to close during this lockdown. As a former business owner myself, I can sympathise with the position owners have found themselves in.
“Despite the millions of pounds in grants Redditch businesses have received, I still want to do everything I can as the local MP to support local businesses.
“Let’s #SupportLocal and help local businesses and our economy to bounce back from the impact of the pandemic.”
Vintage Trax, a music shop in Church Green East, is one of the first businesses to be promoted by the #SupportLocal campaign. Owner Ros Sidaway said:
“To keep things ticking over during lockdown, Vintage Trax offers a Call & Collect service. Customers contact us with details on albums they’d like, then when confirmed, they call us to pre-pay via card, and arrange to collect from the shop on Tuesdays or Fridays, or for local orders, we can deliver free of charge.
“After the recent Government roadmap was announced, we’re delighted to now know when we can re-open after what has been a particularly tough lockdown period. We are looking forward to opening our doors again on Tuesday 13th April.”
