Rachel at the Abbey Stadium

Rachel has welcomed a further £205,000 Government investment in swimming facilities at Redditch’s Abbey Stadium.

The funding is the second boost the Abbey Stadium has received from the Swimming Pool Support Fund since its launch last year.

Announced at the Spring Budget 2023, the fund has been split into two phases, totalling over £60 million from the Government and £20 million from Sport England’s Lottery funding.

Last November, the Abbey Stadium received £177,311 from phase one of the funding.

And now it’s been confirmed that the Stadium will receive £205,000 from phase two of the funding – taking the total amount swimming facilities at the Abbey Stadium have received to £382,311.

This funding will enable the Abbey Stadium to become more financially sustainable, energy efficient and reduce energy consumption levels across its swimming facilities.

Rachel said:

“I know how important swimming is for many people in Redditch, and I’m thrilled the Government and Sport England has now invested a total of £382,311 in swimming facilities at the Abbey Stadium.

"This funding will ensure residents can continue getting fit and healthy - contributing to the Prime Minister’s long-term aim to cut obesity rates and get millions more people active.

“This further investment, which follows the £5 million announced in the Budget last week to level up arts and culture in our town, demonstrates this Conservative Government’s commitment and determination to unlock Redditch’s full potential.”
