Ahead of the Budget later this month, Rachel has warned of the consequences of increasing National Insurance contributions for employers.
The Prime Minister has refused to rule out a raid on National Insurance in Labour's first Budget.
Rachel said:
"If, or perhaps I should say when, Labour increases National Insurance contributions for employers at the Budget later this month, “we’ll see fewer jobs” and it will be a “clear breach” of their manifesto – not my words – they’re the words of the Executive Director of the Federation of Small Businesses.
As someone who started and ran a small business for 30 years I agree!
When you realise that not one single member of Labour's cabinet has ever run a business, you quickly understand why this government just doesn’t get it.
They don't understand what it takes to put your home on the line to take the risk to start up a business, to go for months or years without paying yourself, living off savings so that you can pay your staff. In short, they don't understand business and they don't respect or value entrepreneurs and wealth creators.
Any raid on National Insurance will dissuade businesses from making new investments, taking on new staff and will damage our economy.
Labour just isn’t the party of business. And no amount of cosplaying as one will change that fact."
