Rachel Maclean, newly-elected MP for Redditch County, has said she is extremely disappointed by a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report issued today (Tuesday) following an inspection of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in November and December 2016.

The overall rating for the Trust was judged to be ‘inadequate’ and the CQC is recommending it remains in ‘special measures’ until further review. The Trust has been in ‘special measures’ since November 2015.

Rachel said: “While I am encouraged that the Trust has been acknowledged as a caring organisation, leadership has been identified as a continuing problem. Although I recognise a plan is in place to tackle the more urgent problems, people have a right to expect to see results – and quickly.

“I have pledged as part of my 12-point election plan to hold Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to account, and as part of that promise I shall be keeping a very close eye on the situation going forward. I have already requested an urgent meeting with Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, and shall be meeting with hospital Trust CEO Michelle McKay.”
