The first stop on Rachel’s coffee morning tour at the Oasis Christian Centre last Friday (April 27th) was a busy affair with a large turnout of residents popping into the centre throughout the morning to meet Rachel and enjoy a cup of tea, or coffee and a slice of cake.
Rachel was able to discuss a wide range of issues with those who attended and provided them with information on the best way of contacting her in the future.
Also at the coffee morning Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch & Wyre Forest were on hand to provide residents with information and advice. Staff from Age UK made it clear to residents that, although their Redditch office has closed, their new service will see them visiting even more residents in their own homes.
As well as that, the Pensions Advisory Service were able to offer free and impartial guidance to residents about their workplace or personal pensions.
Although the event was free, residents were asked to donate what they could to the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation. And thanks to the generosity of those who attended, Rachel’s coffee morning has raised £92.50 for the Redditch charity.
Rachel said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to all those who attended the first stop on my coffee morning tour. It was great to meet so many residents and talk to them about anything and everything!
“My thanks to Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch & Wyre Forest and the Pensions Advisory Service as well for being on hand to provide residents with valuable information and advice. It was important for me that Age UK were able to attend to show that this invaluable service is still available in our town. They may no longer have an office in Redditch, but their new service will see charity staff visiting residents in their own homes.
“I’m also delighted my coffee morning raised £92.50 for the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation. This is such a brilliant charity and I hope the donation from my coffee morning will go a little way in helping to buy defibrillators which could save even more lives.
“I look forward to meeting even more residents at the next stop on my coffee morning tour very soon!”
