Today (June 23rd) the UK marks Reserves Day – a chance to reflect on the contribution Reservists make to the Armed Forces.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel.

They give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their everyday lives with a military career to ensure that, should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.

“Reserves Day gives us all the opportunity to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution Reservists make to our Armed Forces.

“The Reservists have played an integral role in the UK’s response to the pandemic. Their skills and expertise have been essential in dealing with this unprecedented situation.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to highlight the 37th Signal Regiment who have a squadron based here in Redditch. I’ve enjoyed taking part in their parades and celebrations, and especially the post-parade curry lunch at Kohima House and I can’t wait for the next one! Its wonderful food and so enjoyable speaking to local residents who have served us all.

“Thank you for all that you do. Your hard-work and dedication never goes unnoticed by the people of Redditch. We’re all incredibly grateful for your service.”
