As the country marks Carers Week, Rachel said:
“As this week is Carers Week, I wanted to take the time to recognise and thank all carers in Redditch.
“You really are unsung heroes and I know we don’t say it enough, but you have been absolutely vital throughout this pandemic, just as you are at any other time.
“I’ve spoken about this before because, as some of you may know, my mum is living with dementia and so I’ve seen first-hand the kind of care that’s provided to her and it makes me feel so much better about her situation knowing that she’s being looked after. I know many other families in Redditch are in a similar situation.
“I know how hard our carers work. I know how tough it is, and so I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody that is involved in caring.
“I also want to say thank you to all those local organisations, in particular Carers Careline, who are a vital lifeline for people doing an extremely difficult job. Thank you to all of you.”
