Parliament may be heading into recess today, but that doesn’t mean my work stops.
I’ll be back home in the constituency visiting local businesses and community groups, as well as holding my regular surgeries.
My main focus will of course be on fighting to ensure the Garden Suite returns to the Alexandra Hospital. Thank you to the more than 4,000 of you who have already signed the petition. No one can claim there isn’t massive support in Redditch for this service returning to our town’s hospital.
I keep seeing Trust bosses saying they’re receiving positive feedback about the relocation to Kidderminster. If my inbox is anything to go by then they can’t be asking the questions which need to be asked. Not a single constituent has emailed me to say they support the move – and I’ve heard from constituents who are currently using the Garden Suite.
I’m continuing to ensure I leave no stone unturned in this fight to return this service to the Alex. It’s home was at the Alex before the pandemic and it’s home should be at the Alex once again.
Another issue close to my heart is women’s health. In March, the Government launched a call for evidence to inform the development of the first Women’s Health Strategy for England, with the ambition of improving the health and wellbeing of women across the country.
Women of all ages and backgrounds, as well as clinicians and those with expertise in women’s health, are being urged to respond to the online survey in order to capture the varying health issues women experience over their lives and the significant differences between women in terms of access to services, experience of services and health outcomes.
It’s incredibly important women make their voices heard on this issue. I’m therefore urging all women in Redditch to take part in the call for evidence. You’re feedback and experiences will help shape the first ever Women’s Health Strategy for England. To take part please visit: https://consultations.dhsc.gov.uk/talkwomenshealth.
