Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch, said:
“After five long years, the announcement that Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is finally out of special measures is a huge milestone.
“I wasn’t Redditch’s MP when the Trust was placed into special measures all those years ago, but since I was first elected in 2017, I’ve asked difficult questions and had tough conversations with the Trust along this journey. I only ever did so because I want what’s best for my constituents – first class health services.
“Rightly, every single member of staff is celebrating. This announcement is a credit to the huge amount of hard work the team have done. It has been an honour and a privilege to follow this journey and to see first-hand the work that’s been put in to make this huge progress.
“I’ve no doubt it will be reassuring to my constituents that the Alex is on a firmer footing. I’ve always said the Alex has a bright future ahead of it, and the decision to take the Trust out of special measures reinforces this vision. We can now look ahead to a brighter future for hospital services in Redditch and across the county.”
