Rachel visited the Nutricia Homeward warehouse following its recent relocation to Redditch.
Employing 132 people locally, of which 90 are working with Nutricia Homeward, CEVA Logistics operate the 132,000 square foot Nutricia Homeward warehouse supplying over 27,500 patients a year – a third of whom are children – with the medical nutrition required to enable them to be supported in their own home.
Nutricia Homeward delivers prescribed enteral tube feeding products, pumps and ancillary items, supplied by the Redditch facility, direct to NHS hospitals, care homes and patients’ homes. As part of Nutricia Homeward, there is a team of over 140 nurses, trained to deliver excellent nutritional care in the community for those who are enterally tube fed. In Redditch alone, there are 92 people who are tube fed, supported by the service.
Rachel said: “Nutricia Homeward in Redditch are making such a difference to the lives of people who enterally tube feed at home, their families and carers, and so it was a huge honour to be asked to visit their new premises”.
“It was fascinating to learn about the service Nutricia Homeward provides for patients who are tube fed, which enables them to be supported at home.
“I hope Nutricia Homeward goes from strength-to-strength and is able to continue supporting patients here in Redditch and across the country.”
Speaking about the visit Filippo Della Torre, General Manager of Nutricia: Advanced Medical Nutrition (AMN) UK & Ireland, said: “As the medical business of Danone, we are committed to helping people live longer and healthier lives by providing medical nutrition. We are proud to be able to offer a holistic service to both the patients who are enterally tube fed and those healthcare professionals who manage their nutritional care. Through Nutricia Homeward our nurses help to support such patients from point of hospital discharge through to enabling them to tube feed independently in their home environment; because we know that discharge is only one small part of someone’s recovery. We have a dedicated team of Nutricia Homeward Patient Coordinators who conduct monthly support calls to arrange timely delivery of supplies which are delivered from our Redditch warehouse hub directly to homes by dedicated, trained delivery drivers. From our Midlands based warehouse we are able to reach all parts of England, Wales and Scotland supporting over 27,500 patients.”
Nutricia AMN provides medical nutrition to those with a prescribed need, such as those who have had a stroke, head and neck cancer patients or some intractable epilepsy patients. An estimated 700,000 people in the UK receive some form of enteral nutrition, sometimes referred to as medical nutrition, every year.
