Following yesterday evening’s (May 24th) Celebrate Women of Redditch 2018 Awards at St Stephen’s Church, Rachel said:
“What an incredibly inspiring evening it was at the Celebrate Women Of Redditch 2018 Awards. Congratulations to all of the winners, you should be so proud of your achievements.
“It really was a huge honour to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote in the company of my two predecessors, Jacqui Smith and Karen Lumley, as well as the fantastic Mayor of Redditch, Juliet Brunner.
“At the awards it was clear to see that we have so many strong and influential women in our town who will no doubt inspire young girls in Redditch that they can achieve anything if they put their mind to it.
“I was proud and humbled to stand with inspiring Redditch women to celebrate 100 years of women’s suffrage. We have a proud history of electing women MPs here in Redditch, and to think 100 years ago we couldn’t even vote, let alone stand for Parliament.
“There were some incredible performances from Indigo Arts and the Violets. They showed what brilliant talent we have to offer in our town and they inspired everyone in the Church.
“Congratulations to Laney Walsh, Unison Redditch and Bromsgrove, the Redditch Standard & the Kingfisher Shopping Centre for organising this event. It was a huge success! I hope we will continue to celebrate inspiring Redditch women in the years to come.”
