Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Redditch County Rachel Maclean, has today announced that the Alex hospital will be a priority for substantial funding if a Conservative Government is re-elected on June 8th.
Speaking ahead of a meeting with Health Minister Philip Dunne, which was arranged at Rachel’s request, she said:
“I’m a mum myself, and so I am not surprised to hear the concerns people have been raising with me on the doorsteps about the Alex.”
“The staff at both the Alex in Redditch and at the Worcestershire Royal are working incredibly hard and doing an amazing job.”
“But it’s clear the facilities on both sites need improving and we need to address the lack of car parking at Worcestershire Royal, for example.”
The investment will be used to tackle just this, as well as re-vamping operating theaters at the Alex for pre-planned surgery and other big vital changes.
Since Rachel was selected to stand as the prospective MP for Redditch, she has been fighting hard and campaigning for more certainty about the future of the Alex as her top priority.
“It’s time to end the uncertainty that has been hanging over the Alex for too long, and it’s time for a fresh approach.”
“I’m delighted to announce today that our hospital here in Redditch is a priority for that new funding.”
“I’m very much my own person, and I’d ask the electorate to give me their instructions on June 8th to stand up for the people of Redditch in Parliament on this and other issues that are important to us.”
Philip Dunn, Health Minister said, “Plans for a substantial multi-million pound investment, benefitting the Alex, are well advanced and Rachel Maclean has made a strong case to me to get on and deliver this. I am pleased to say that if a Conservative Government, under Theresa May, is re-elected on June 8th then this project will be a priority.”
“Our manifesto is committed to delivering the most ambitious programme of investment in buildings and technology the NHS has ever seen, and the Alex Hospital is a priority for that new funding.”
